Plexus Supports MTU Students and Innovation in New Electronics Lab

The new Plexus Innovation Lab in Michigan Technological University’s Electrical Strength
Methods Heart is an electronics makerspace.

A drive to guidance understanding and the engineering willpower, as effectively as the capacity
to have interaction further with Michigan Technological College learners, led Plexus Corp. to sponsor a new laboratory in Michigan Tech’s Office of Electrical and Pc Engineering. The 1,230-square-foot facility, situated in the Electrical Strength Methods Heart
(EERC), is a makerspace targeted on electronics.

The EERC makerspace is open up to learners throughout various disciplines, providing Tech
learners with arms-on experiences in designing and testing electronics through use
of the lab’s products.

“I’m extremely delighted to see this sturdy financial investment in student understanding by Plexus,” explained
Janet Callahan, dean of the School of Engineering. “The partnership of Plexus with
Michigan Tech will be impactful to learners and faculty for many many years to appear.”

The task was born out of a prolonged-standing marriage amongst Michigan Tech and
Plexus. Plexus, a Neenah, Wisconsin-centered organization, employs dozens of Huskies in programs
ranging from mechanical to biomedical to electrical engineering. Plexus has many very pleased
Tech alumni, who routinely return to their alma mater to take part in visitor lectures,
as effectively as recruit far more Huskies for the duration of Michigan Tech’s career fairs.

Michigan Tech alumna Christina Jufliak desired to profit both of those her employer and the
College. Following earning a BS in Biomedical Engineering in 2013 and an MBA the subsequent
yr, she commenced her career at Plexus as a product or service engineer and is at present a purposeful
supervisor.

“As an MTU alum, I noticed firsthand the school’s efforts to provide suitable and arms-on
experiences for learners to prepare them for their careers,” explained Jufliak. “I am extremely
energized and grateful that the Plexus Innovation Lab will keep on supporting these
efforts, preparing learners to consider on internships and entire-time positions inside of

prospects make the products that develop a much better entire world calls for an extremely
gifted engineering staff. The financial investment in this lab creates a room for learners
to obtain arms-on electronics experience and acquire the issue-solving techniques and
modern considering required to help in producing products that develop a much better entire world.”

Chris Middlebrook, professor of electrical and computer system engineering, headed the laboratory
task for Michigan Tech, making certain the room and products fulfilled the requirements of learners.

“Thanks to this generous donation from Plexus, our learners now have the amazing
possibility to increase and grow their instructional experience through the use of
our new Plexus Innovation Lab,” explained Middlebrook. “The Plexus staff has been actively
